Huddersfield Town, having been promoted from the fourth division last season were trying hard to get promotion again, but found it hard going against a resolute Portsmouth side. However they were in sixth position in the league after today's game.

MONDAY 22ND DECEMBER, 1980

F.A. CUP 2ND ROUND (2ND REPLAY) AT ELLAND ROAD, LEEDS

HULL CITY 2  (Croft, Morrie) BLYTH SPARTANS 1  (Mutrie pen.) After extra time.

The non-leaguers continued to battle hard after two drawn games and took Hull City to extra time before they finally scored the winner. Hull City beat Doncaster 1-0 in the Third Round but went out 2-0 at Tottenham in the Fourth Round.
