Town just missed out on promotion at the end of the season finishing in fifth position, with the top four all being promoted with Lincoln City champions. Scunthorpe managed to avoid having to seek re-election but only by the skin of their teeth with a superior goal average.

Matlock Town finished the season in fourth place in the Northern Premier League Table, seven points behind champions Runcorn. However they scored more goals than anyone else in the league with a total of 95.
