WEST BROMWICH ALBION 2 (Clark 2)
Springett; Hazell, Langley; Keen, Hunt, Sibley;

Sheppard; Cram, Williams; Collard, Clarke, Fraser;
Brown, Astle, Kaye, Hope, Clark;
Having already seen third division side Queen's Park Rangers demolish Birmingham City at St. Andrews in the League Cup semi-final with some splendid football, it came as no real surprise to see them beat West Bromwich Albion in the League Cup final at Wembley.
Despite being an Albion season ticket holder I could not deny that QPR were the best team on the day with star performers like Peter Springett in goal, Jim Langley in defence and Mark Lazarus and Rodney Marsh up front. Albion were well below par and suffered from having reserve centre half Dennis Clarke at the centre of their defence. The Albion's all star forward line just did not click for once and indeed John Kaye was brought back into defensive duties during the second half.
So full marks to Rangers and especially he maestro Rodney Marsh who really ran the game throughout.
